Finn Balor vs. Constable Baron Corbin

This is just a case of having nothing else for these guys right now. I mean, was anyone else clamoring for this rubber match? I will say that I have been enjoying this new role for Corbin, outside of him wrestling in his suit, anyway. He still doesn’t have the greatest personality in the world but this does allow him to open up a little bit. They might need to get rid of that wolf on the intro though as The Lone Wolf gimmick doesn’t really apply any more. Or maybe they already have and I haven’t noticed and/or cared that much.

As for Finn Balor, he’s just stuck right now in terms of his booking. A SummerSlam match for Balor should mean The Demon coming out, but that certainly won’t be happening for this one. He got the win at Extreme Rules but then lost on Monday Night RAW and we’re here now. I’m not saying this can’t be a decent match, but it’s certainly not up there on the list of matches I’m looking forward to on Sunday. They’ll likely get about 10 minutes or so, but there’s no sense of urgency and it’s simply another big man vs. little man kind of thing.

Prediction: Corbin is going to continue to get plenty of TV time with this new role, so he really doesn’t need a win here. Honestly, it’s going to play better on the screen if he does lose and then Angle can pile on. So I’ll go with Finn Balor here. Give him the victory and get him out of this program and into something else, perhaps back into the Intercontinental Championship mix.
