Stephen Jackson doesn’t have time for preposterous Kobe questions

Stephen Jackson didn’t take too kindly when a reporter asked him if Kobe Bryant could handle the physicality of the 3-on-3 league.

Stephen Jackson and Alan Anderson want the basketball world to know Kobe Bryant, one of best players ever to lace up a pair of basketball shoes, can play in the BIG 3 league.

You see, for some time now (well, this season really), there has been some discussion about whether Bryant could — and would — take his sneakers down from the retirement shelf and lace em up in this new basketball enterprise.

The question was on one reporter’s mind about whether Kobe’s body could handle the physicality of the 3-on-3 league. If you haven’t taken the time to watch the up-and-coming league, the brand of basketball played on this level is very, very physical, especially in the paint, where mini-wars happen on a weekly basis.

Given that Kobe’s body was breaking down late in his career, oh, and that he’s retired, it’s a fair question to ask; however, Jackson and Anderson didn’t have the time for that sort of hypothetical question posed them in a press conference that should rank as one of the most memorable in sports.

They both made it clear Kobe can ball out in this league or any league.

Anderson basically had the look of “are you freaking kidding me?” on his face before saying “for sure.” Jackson, meanwhile, took to the altar to proclaim his thoughts. “Kobe can play in any league. Any league.”

Yes, Kobe can play in any league he wants. He’s one of the best to ever play the game. No, Kobe won’t be joining the Big 3. A better hypothetical question would be whether Kobe could get in game shape in time to kick it with LeBron and the Lakers this year.
