WWE SummerSlam 2018: Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss highlights, result
By Nir Regev
Ronda Rousey won the WWE RAW Women’s Championship in dominant Lesnar style fashion, submitting Alexa Bliss with an armbar for the ages.
Ronda Rousey arrived adorning a new dark eye makeup/hair battle style, ready to go to war with Bliss.
She was held back by the ref at first as Bliss mocked from the turnbuckle before trying to go for a cheap shot and being instantly stopped by Rousey who dropped her with a punch. Bliss rolled out of the ring, only for Rousey to turn her back, sit down at center and go into full a mediation-like state, only for Bliss to run in and attempt a sleeper submission from behind.
It would be ineffective against Rousey who dropped her promptly in a faux fireman’s carry slam, Cena like Attitude Adjustment. Bliss then managed to get a kick in, only to proceed to be rag-dolled around in the ring by Rousey.
The match would finish quickly with Rousey dominating with an armbar as Bliss yelled in agony like never before in a WWE match. Bliss would tap out in a matter of seconds. Rousey grabbed the RAW Women’s Championship and held it proudly in the air. Natalya embraced Rousey with a hug before holding her arm up high as the Bella Twins entered the ring and similarly held up her arm in the air. The four posed together as Rousey lived her childhood dream. Rousey then hopped the barricade to celebrate her victory with her husband, Travis Browne. Rousey left holding the belt with Natalya as the two embraced again up the ramp.
It looks like WWE Evolution’s upcoming Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss matchup will not be for the RAW Women’s belt after all, and the announcement did not telegraph the winner of the match. Michael Cole, Jonathan Coachman and Corey Graves discussed the question of who Rousey might face at the upcoming Hell in a Cell PPV in San Antonio. Who will be the next to match up with Rousey as she becomes the clearly dominant Brock Lesnar-style champion in the WWE RAW Women’s division?
Who will be Rousey’s ‘Goldberg’ equal, or is it too early to even speak of such a thing and we’re looking at a major, major extended year long reign? Fans will find out in the coming weeks and maybe as soon as tomorrow on WWE Monday Night Raw!
