3. Health

Health, the bane of the Texans existence last year. Most notably was Watson’s torn ACL. It came in practice after a devastating 41-38 loss to the Seahawks where Watson had played incredible. That game was a metaphor for the Texans season as a whole. No matter how well Watson played, something was destined to go wrong. In the game, it was a Russell Wilson comeback that forced them to lose the game, and in the season it was Watson’s torn ACL that forced them to lose their season.

On the other side of the ball, Houston hero J.J. Watt had his season needed after just 5 games. He fractured his tibial plateau in his left leg during Week 5 against the Chiefs. It was the second year in a row that Watt was unable to play six games, as he had to miss 13 games in 2016 for back surgery. Last year’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Having the quarterback of their future and the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks and forced fumbles back will restart the Texans. Watson has been solid in limited time this preseason and Watt is determined to play Week 1. The two pushed each other through rehab and that has helped them get back on the field. Now, the Texans have two huge impact players coming back who will help carry them to the postseason.
