19. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Prescott followed up his Pro Bowl rookie season with a pretty mediocre sophomore campaign. The Cowboys coaching staff hopes that was a product of the issues surrounding Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas running game. That certainly was an issue for Prescott, but it wasn’t the only one.

His numbers last season were down across the board. The most glaring difference between his 2017 and 2016 campaigns were the number of interceptions. Prescott received great acclaim as a rookie for only throwing four INTs. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, he threw 13 in his second season.

The true measure of his performance is likely somewhere in between. Prescott definitely tried to take on too much last season without a dominating running game to rely on. His numbers should improve if Elliott is able to stay healthy and eligible for a full season.

The trouble is that the Cowboys’ group of wide receivers might be the weakest group in the NFL. Prescott is still going to have to do a ton of heavy lifting to make his receivers look good. He doesn’t have quite enough talent to take all that responsibility on.

Prescott’s mobility and accuracy give him a relatively high floor, but he may never reach another Pro Bowl. He’s an average NFL starting quarterback at best.
