7. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Wilson doesn’t look like a prototypical NFL quarterback, but his play easily makes him a top 10 player at his position. His ability to thrive in the pocket at just 5-foot-11 is an inspiration to other relatively short players trying to make it at the position.

Of course, few players have Wilson’s combination of pinpoint accuracy and mobility. Wilson’s completion percentage of 61.3% in 2017 was actually the worst mark of his career. It’s safe to assume that percentage will progress towards his career average this year.

The biggest obstacle to Wilson’s success this season is the shoddy offensive line charged with protecting him. The organization has relied on him to carry the offense for far too long. The recent slippage from the Seahawks’ defense will also heap more pressure on Wilson moving forward.

The hope in Seattle is that the running game can provide this offense more balance. It it does, look for Wilson to put up big numbers again. That doesn’t look all that likely though. The most likely outcome of the season for the Seahawks is that they will, once again, count on Wilson to carry their offensive for significant stretches of the season.

Expect Wilson to keep playing at a Pro Bowl level, but the numbers might not quite be there for him this season. The proof about Wilson’s game will be evident on tape, but might not be as obvious in the stat sheet.
