25. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins

The 2014 season was the last time Tannehill posted a QBR over 50. Even Blake Bortles has managed to post better numbers than that. Tannehill has an accurate arm, but his trouble pushing the ball down the field combined with his injury issues are both serious concerns for the Dolphins.

You have to remember that 2017 was a completely lost year for Tannehill. He missed the entire campaign due to injury. There’s no reason to think he can’t bounce back from a torn ACL, but there’s no proof he will be the same quarterback until he steps onto the field and silences all doubters.

Even if he does make a full recovery, he’s still not anything more than an average NFL starter. He’s got good mobility, but he’s not an electric athlete by any means. Similarly he has a good arm, but it’s not so outstanding that he can make all the deep throws in the playbook. Tannehill is one of those quarterbacks that always seems to leave you wanting more.

Dolphins fans hope that 2018 will be the season where Tannehill establishes himself as a top-quality NFL starter. His ceiling hovers somewhere around finishing in the top 20 at his position. That’s good enough to keep Miami in the playoff mix for a while, but it won’t get them into the postseason. The organization will need to secure Tannehill’s long-term replacement sooner rather than later.
