For those of you that are new to MLB Fantasy “Waiver Wire Options” posts, take a look below to see how it works!
Regarding
league-wide ownership
, you will be provided the website(s) that applies to the player listed (i.e.
Byron Buxton is 33.7% owned on ESPN and 56% owned on Yahoo!).
Long-term or short-term help. Some players listed may only help in short-term. Others may fill long-term needs.
SP Michael Kopech Chicago White Sox (ESPN 53%- Yahoo! 27%)
I hope we’re not too late, but if he is still there, scoop him up immediately! If Kopech is available in your league and you see this in the morning. Get him while you can before it’s too late!
The White Sox really pulled in a haul for Chris Sale back in 2016. They not only got the number 1 or 2 hitting prospect in Yoan Moncada, but they stole Michael Kopech as well. Kopech has the stuff of the ace has these days. He and Carlos Rodon will be a problem for teams in the near future.
The strike outs will be there no matter what. Feel free to use Kopech in DraftKings or Fanduel. Kopech relies mostly on his fastball. Oh almost forgot to tell you, his 101 MPH fastball. At any time he can drop in a 90 mph slider and buckle the knees of the hitter.
C Taylor Ward Los Angeles Angels (ESPN 13.9% – Yahoo! 31%)
Ward has been a pleasant surprise for the Angels this year. What’s important to note is that he has that Catcher eligibility, but plays third base full-time. Dream come true if your team needs help at catcher.
Ward is hitting well as of late. August 16-18 he recorded an RBI in each game. He already has two multi-hit games and just earned his first big league home run. If you need to fill your catcher position, look no further than Taylor Ward if he’s available.
SP Bryse Wilson Atlanta Braves (ESPN 2% – Yahoo! 0%)
An interested move to be made here if you liked what you saw in Bryse Wilson’s debut. He was impressive going five scoreless innings and striking out five, while earning the win. We need to be careful in this situation though, because the plan for Atlanta is to send him back to AAA.
But do not let that fool you one bit. He will be back in September, and should a few opportunities to prove to his team that he belongs. Bryse has moved around from minor league team to minor league team within the Braves organization. So far in 2018, Wilson is 8-5 with 26 strikeouts in 26.2 innings. We should look forward to seeing him back up in September with a squad fighting for a playoff spot.
