MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats
James McCann – DK $3100, FD $2300
James McCann is relatively cheap on both sites tonight, and although it may not look like it, he’s been hitting the ball extremely well of late. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 12 feet, his exit velocity is up 5 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 26%, over his yearly averages. These are some pretty monstrous differences, which could lead to some positive regression tonight, as he faces the lefty, Jon Lester.
Batter Splits
Ender Inciarte – DK $3900, FD $2600
Ender Inciarte will draw an enticing matchup tonight, as he’ll face the righty Trevor Williams. Inciarte is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .319 wOBA split (.065 better than when facing a lefty) and a .132 ISO split (.101 better than when facing a lefty). Note that, Inciarte will only be in play if he’s batting near the top of the order
David Peralta – DK $5500, FD $4000
David Peralta is another lefty in advantageous matchup tonight, as he faces the righty Odrisamer Despaigne. Peralta is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .396 wOBA split (.087 better than when facing a lefty) and a .249 ISO split (.124 better than when facing a lefty). Peralta is expensive on both sites, but has a much more viable option on FanDuel at $4000.
Stolen Base Upside
San Francisco Batters
While San Francisco doesn’t have any of the top base stealers, they will have one of the best possible matchups, as they face Noah Syndergaard. Syndergaard is extremely susceptible to stolen bases, as he’s allowed 25 stolen bases over the course of 100.2 innings pitched this year. This should raise the potential ceiling of base runners such as, Steve Duggar, Alen Hanson, and Andrew McCutchen.
*Other interesting matchups, Starling Marte vs. Julio Tehran, and Mookie Betts vs. Carlos Carrasco.
