The Cleveland Browns will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night for their preseason matchup. Both teams present interesting storylines.

The defending Super Bowl champions the Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Ohio to face off with the Cleveland Browns this evening at 8 p.m. ET. Although they come from opposite sides of the coin, both teams feature intricate storylines that have been a fixture this offseason.

The Browns want to win at least one game while having the talent to win many. The Eagles want to win another Super Bowl while having the talent, coaching staff and front office to also win many.

The Eagles are trying to get their two high-caliber quarterbacks, Nick Foles and Carson Wentz, healthy before the season starts. Wentz, who tore his ACL late last season, will not play in the game while Foles will get the nod. Foles has just recovered from a mild strain from his throwing shoulder last week in a game against the New England Patriots.

The Browns are currently the media darlings of the NFL, primarily  due to their lively Hard Knocks episodes and their colorful personalities from their players (Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry) to their coaching staff (Todd Haley, Gregg Williams).

Like the Eagles, the Browns are trying to stabilize their quarterback situation. While Tyrod Taylor is penciled in as the starter, Mayfield has looked impressive thus far and will perhaps be an easy replacement for Taylor if he crumbles below expectations.

Date: Thursday, Aug. 23
Start Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Venue: FirstEnergy Stadium
TV: Fox (nationally televised)

With the preseason coming to a close soon, look for both teams to play their starters possibly through the third quarter. Giving their key players much-needed reps at this point in August is essential to teams preparing for the grind of the regular season.
