2. Liverpool demolish Brighton at Anfield

This season Liverpool have been tipped to challenge for the league title after their impressive 2017-18 season which saw them finish in the top four and make it to the Champions League final.

They showed their strength on Monday night when they overcame a difficult away match against Crystal Palace. They were perhaps a little fortunate to run out 2-0 winners but they were particularly impressive in defense.

Virgil van Dijk looks a more shrewd signing (even at £75m) with every game that he plays. On Monday he controlled the back line and communicated with his defensive colleagues brilliantly.

They kept Wilfried Zaha relatively quiet and the only real threat on the Liverpool goal was a good shot from Andros Townsend. This weekend they have less potent attacking threats to deal with although the Seagulls did notch three goals against Manchester United last Sunday.

Last weekend Brighton looked like a completely different team from the side that were beaten by Watford on the opening day. They hustled and harried Manchester United and were the much better side on the day.

Liverpool will pose a much greater attacking threat though and Brighton’s frailties will show as they try to deal with the pace of Saido Mane and Mo Salah as well as the skill and endeavor of Roberto Firmino.

Chris Hughton’s side are in for a long day as they try and keep the scoreline below five with the Liverpool frontline running rampant.
