Running Backs

  • Kareem Hunt:
    • If playing the early slate, lock & load Hunt in as he is expected to play 3 quarters.
  • Melvin Gordon:
    • Gordon should be the top RB option on the main slate as Chargers are expected to play the first string most of the 1st half. Gordon scored a TD last week on 10 carries and 35 rushing yards. He also hauled in 2 receptions for for 18 yards. A lock for cash games today.
  • Kenyan Drake:
    • Dolphin’s starters are expected to play into the 2nd half which should give Drake the volume to justify him as a cash game play today. He had a solid game last week getting 54 yards rushing on 8 attempts while catching 3 of 4 targets. Drake provides a very safe floor for cash lineups.
  • John Kelly
    • Kelly almost helped bring home the Showdown slate last week for me as I used him in the Captain position on DraftKings. Todd Gurley has already been ruled out which means Malcom Brown should get the start but Kelly should get a lot of work still. He’s pacing all Rams RBs with 31 rushing attempts which is good for 133 yards and 1 rushing TD. He is averaging a very nice 4.3 YPC. Kelly is making a strong push to be Gurley’s backup.

RB Player Pool: Gordon (LAC), Drake (MIA), Kelly (LAR), Fournette (JAX), Ingram (NO)

Wide Receiver

  • Keenan Allen:
    • Chargers are expected to play the 1st half which should make Allen viable today as Rivers’ #1 target. He should be able to get 3-4 catches and provide a safe floor.
  • Marquise Goodwin:
    • We should get at least 1 half out of Goodwin who has been showing a strong rapport with Jimmy G all preseason. Goodwin hauled in 3 receptions for 61 yards last week. If playing Jimmy G at QB, stack him with Goodwin in cash and Garcon in GPPs.
  • Albert Wilson
    • Devante Parker has already been ruled out and Kenny Stills has missed a few practices this week which should move Albert Wilson up in the pecking order. Wilson secured 5 catches for 39 yards last week and should be heavily involved again this week.
  • Corey Davis
    • Davis has been very quiet this preseason while apparently having a very good training camp. I loved Davis when he came out last year and I fully expect him to take the next step forward this year after an injury riddled rookie season. I will be targeting him heavily in season long formats. While Taylor stole the headlines last week taking a WR screen to the house, I will be targeting CD in GPPs to avoid Taylor’s likely high ownership.
  • James Washington:
    • Washington finally broke out last week posting a 5-114 for 2 TDs. AB has been limited in practice all week and it would make sense for the Steelers to rest him which should set Washington up for another big day.

WR Player Pool:  Watkins & Hill (KC), Allen (LAC), Goodwin (SF), Wilson (MIA), Davis (TENN), Washington (PITT) , Michael Thomas (NO)

Tight Ends

  • Travis Kelce:
    • See any Chiefs’ player above.
  • Jack Doyle
    • With the Colts starters expected to play majority of the 1st half, I think Doyle is the #1 TE option on the main slate.  Doyle hauled in 2 catches for 32 yards on 4 targets last week. Fellow TE, Eric Ebron could also be considered here.
  • Mike Gesicki:
    • Despite playing with the starting unit, Gesicki has been absent in the stat sheet this preseason. I expect that to change today as the Dolphins look to get ready for the regular season. Gesicki could be a nice contrarion TE play in GPP formats given his quiet preseason.
  • Mark Andrews:
    • Fellow rookie TE, Hayden Hurst is out this week which could open the door for Mark Andrews to be active in the passing games.

TE Player Pool: Kelce (KC), Doyle & Ebron (IND), Gesicki (MIA), Andrews (BAL)
