BIG3 Commissioner Clyde Drexler confirmed to FanSided that they will attempt to sign Manu Ginóbili if he retires, and that he’d be a perfect BIG3 player.

During BIG3’s press conference at Barclays Center, FanSided inquired about the possibility of the league signing Manu Ginóbili if he does indeed retire from the San Antonio Spurs. Clyde ‘The Glide’ Drexler told FanSided that they’re “going to do everything short of stalking Manu” and that he’d be a “perfect BIG3 player.” Obtaining the talents of the future Spurs Hall of Famer would be a huge signing and major boost for the league. Manu is and always well be a much loved player in the NBA, bringing a massive fanbase wherever he goes. No one has forgotten that infamous block on Harden during the NBA Playoffs just one year ago, either. Clearly, the man still has it.

Drexler added that they’ll be looking to sign “his teammate Tim Duncan as well” and “Kobe.” Meaning they haven’t given up on pursuing Kobe despite a source from Kobe’s company telling TMZ, “It’s 100 percent not happening.”

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski recently tweeted that Manu “doesn’t have a final decision yet but is seriously considering retirement,” adding that ‘he’ll be meeting with Coach Greg Popovich in the next few days to discuss his future.’

FanSided.com (Nir Regev): So there’s been a lot of talk about Kobe but I got another person on the radar that I’m curious about, and that’s Manu Ginóbili. If he does actually retire from the [San Antonio] Spurs, will you guys do everything you can to bring him in? Is there even a chance?

Clyde Drexler: Well, we’re going to do everything short of stalking Manu. He’s a perfect BIG3 player! He can handle it off the dribble, he’s a good two-way player, and he plays with passion. That’s what the BIG3 is all about! Guys who still love the game, who can get it done, and because now it’s half court. And you get a week between games!

These guys can still be who they are, and so the BIG3 is made for Manu. And we’re going to try to get his teammate Tim Duncan as well … As well as Kobe and anyone else that we think would be a great fit to help these teams win in the BIG3.
