Big Baby got emotional at BIG3’s post-championship press conference
By Nir Regev
“Big Baby” Glen Davis got emotional after FanSided asked him about his epic post move at the BIG3 Championship game, briefly joking at first before things got serious.
“Big Baby” Glen Davis was all smiles for most of BIG3’s post-Championship press conference until a very emotional moment. Earlier Big Baby was dominating in the post, imposing his will on 3’s Company front court throughout BIG3’s Championship deciding game at Barclays Center. He was looking like 2000s Shaq practically, and FanSided had an opportunity to speak with Davis about one epic post up.
Big Baby could not be stopped as he backed a formidable and tough opponent in his own right in Drew Gooden in the post for the two. The post-ups would continue throughout the night, occasionally ending in a foul on Davis but always with a positive result. Eventually, Power would take the win and the 2018 BIG3 Championship against 3’s Company.
Watch FanSided ask “Big Baby” Glen Davis about his epic postup leading to a sincere, emotional moment for the Power star. A transcript of the conversation is also available below.
FanSided.com [Nir Regev]: Big Baby, we gotta talk about that post up on Drew Gooden, that was Shaq-esque! And [Drew] Gooden just told me yesterday, that he was 0-3 in the finals in State Championships, Final Four, and NBA Finals. He thought fourth time would be the charm but you’ve ended the dream!
“Big Baby” Glen Davis: Yeah, you know it’s tough playing Power man. We played a great game, I love Drew Gooden… But I wanted to say I was dealing with depression before I accepted a contract with you guys [Power]. Because when I left the game, I left the game in a different phase… And you guys brought that back to me. I’ve been going through a lot of crazy things lately that are just not who I am. [Ice] Cube, Clyde [Drexler], stood by me, they knew who I was as a person.
And this team stood by me, in spite of what everybody said I’d been or what they think or what they might see. And I thank you guys for that. It’s been a long journey, you know this has been crazy for me and this BIG3 organization, the camaraderie, the people, the love, it’s a great thing. And I’ll promote this league as long as I can play a damn basketball game, I will be in the BIG3. For sure.
BIG3 MVP Corey Maggette scored a team-high 27 points at BIG3’s Championship game at Barclays Center. “Big Baby” Glen Davis finished with 10 points, a steal and a block.
