DraftKings MLB Picks August 27: Corbin could dominate tonight.

We have one of our lighter Mondays in months with seven games in the main DraftKings tournament. That doesn’t mean we are without good pitching options though. There are three pitchers in five figures and a strong middle tier. Do we dare touch anyone at the bottom? Let’s go take a look! We don’t have a Coors stack to worry about, so we may end up paying up for pitching.

More from DFS

We have no rain in the forecast, but there is a strong 18 mph wind out to left at Wrigley. I would stack this even if they weren’t playing the Mets! We still have the wind in San Francisco, but that wont matter.

We will provide you with several options to build your lineup here. Want to spend all your money on pitchers and play bargain bats? We will highlight who is worth the money. Want to punt arms and pay up for the big boppers? We can help you with that as well, and everything in between!

These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. We have plenty of writers on here who give you relevant information no matter which site you play on!

HOUSTON, TX – AUGUST 15: Gerrit Cole #45 of the Houston Astros pitches in the first inning against the Colorado Rockies at Minute Maid Park on August 15, 2018 in Houston, Texas. (Photo by Bob Levey/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Gerrit Cole ($12,000): I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t at least mention Cole. His last scoreless outing was just before the All Star break against this Oakland team at home. However, The A’s are still hitting a solid .240 off of Cole with two homers, but 15 runs in 129 at bats. The 43 strikeouts assure you that Cole will still end up with a solid score, and the four sure points for a win opposing Brett Anderson make this a bit easier to pay up for. That said, Oakland doesn’t strike out a ton, and they are pesky. I hate starting pitchers against them, especially when they are priced like this.

Patrick Corbin ($11,500): The Giants have actually hit Corbin pretty well, but i just can’t trust that offense right now. The Giants have scored just 31 runs in the last ten games. No one in this lineup is really hitting well right now. Corbin has averaged 26.5 DraftKings points per game in five starts against the Giants this year. He is going to dominate them again.

Middle Tier:

Masahiro Tanaka ($9,500): Tanaka’s stats don’t jump off the page, but his stats against the White Sox do. The Sox are hitting a solid .257 against Tanaka in 35 at bats, but they only have one run and eight strikeouts. Aside from a start at Texas, Tanaka has been strong since the break. He has decent upside here because of the elevated strikeouts against the White Sox. However, if I’m going to pay this for a pitcher, I will likely try to find a way to sneak into the upper tier.

Jon Gray ($8,700): I am more than likely going to leave Yankee Stadium alone and go with Gray against the Angels. Gray has only been under 20 DraftKings points once since his demotion. The Angels do have Trout back, but I’m not sure it matters. There is a lot of right handed hitters in the lineup, and honestly, Gray is getting lefties out lately too. He has a 2.59 ERA since the All Star break with 43 strikeouts in seven starts. This is actually a really good price for Gray.

Carlos Rodon ($8,500): It’s hard to ignore what Rodon has done this year. He has a 2.71 ERA in 13 starts. It’s going to get a little tricky at Yankee Stadium, but this lineup is still down a ton of power. Rodon has done a good job limiting homers and free passes so far, so nothing really sticks out. While I consider Rodon a good option, I don’t see a ton of upside here, and the Yankees are still a risk. The healthy ones are still hitting a strong .292 off of Rodon with a homer and three runs in 24 at bats.

Bargain Pitchers:

David Hess ($4,400): Hess has back to back quality starts, including a strong 26 DraftKings points against the Blue Jays last Wednesday. The overall numbers on Hess are still awful, but he seems to be turning a corner here. He has held the Blue Jays to a .184 average in 38 at bats with just two solo homers. Toronto hasn’t really figured him out yet, even if the rest of the league has. I see a strong start for Hess, especially when you consider the price.

NEW YORK, NY – AUGUST 22: Jose Bautista #11 of the New York Mets hits a solo home run in the fourth inning against the San Francisco Giants on August 22, 2018 at Citi Field in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images) /

Baltimore Orioles vs. Sam Gaviglio:

Yes, I realize that Baltimore is stacked with righties, but Gaviglio has been hammered on the road to a 8.36 ERA in nine starts. Nine starts! That isn’t a fluke! Gaviglio has allowed six runs to the Orioles in two starts this year, but both of those starts were in Toronto. I expect good things from the Baltimore offense here, and they are cheap. Cedric Mullins homered off of him last week. Tim Beckham and Chris Davis have homered against Gaviglio as well. I’ll be finishing this stack off with Villar and the power potential of either Adam Jones or Trumbo.

Houston Astros vs. Brett Anderson:

The Astros only scored three runs yesterday, but they should get back on track when they return home. The Astros are hitting a robust .441 against Anderson with three homers and nine runs in just 34 at bats. Reddick, Gattis, and George Springer have the homers off of Anderson. Alex Bregman smashes lefties as well. Altuve is getting hot, and Carlos Correa is worth a look here as well. It could be a relatively short outing for Anderson here. All nine of those runs were given up in one start against Houston earlier this year…….and he still has a 3.47 ERA on the season!

New York Mets vs. Jon Lester:

This is a really bad day for the wind to be blowing out to left in Wrigley. The Mets have good righty power, and with a lefty on the hill, the potential spikes even more. The kicker? The current Mets have nine homers off of Lester and 22 runs in 181 at bats. Jose Bautista has five of those! Wilmer Flores has three, and is 5-13 overall. Todd Frazier, Auston Jackson, and Amed Rosario are going to finish off my stack. Even if you don’t stack here, Bautista and Flores make for a strong two man mini stack.

Colorado Rockies vs. Odrisamer Despaigne:

I usually avoid the Rockies on the road, but I will make an exception here. Despaigne has a 6.35 ERA on the season. He has been consistently bad everywhere. Even though Despaigne could get some strikeouts here, I think the bludgeoning potential of the Rockies far outweighs any upside. I love Blackmon, Dahl, and Arenado here. Trevor Story and CarGo are worth a look as well.

TORONTO, ON – AUGUST 22: Kendrys Morales #8 of the Toronto Blue Jays hits a solo home run in the seventh inning during MLB game action against the Baltimore Orioles at Rogers Centre on August 22, 2018 in Toronto, Canada. (Photo by Tom Szczerbowski/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Kendrys Morales could tie a major league record if he homers again tonight. He already has one homer against Hess in his streak, so I wouldn’t rule it out. Curtis Granderson is the other to homer against Hess, but these guys are a little more expensive than I would like. I see a strong game from Hess here.

Zach Eflin got knocked around by the Nats last week. He is better at home, but I still want some exposure here. Bryce Harper is the logical pick. Juan Soto and Anthony Rendon are on the radar as well.

Khris Davis has gone two full days without a homer. That bum! He has homered off of Cole in the past, but the fact that he is hitting well lately isn’t doing his price any favors. I would rather take a shot with Piscotty, who is $1,400 cheaper, and is hitting .308 with a homer and four RBI off of Cole in 26 at bats.

Chris Stratton has been strong at home. Strong enough that I think there are much better, and cheaper, stack options out there. However, I still like David Peralta and Goldschmidt here. Stratton isn’t going to pitch a great game. Good, yes, but great? Don’t count on it.

Middle Tier:

The White Sox are mostly right handed, so they will be battling splits against Tanaka. The only one that I’m really interested in here is Avi Garcia. You could take a shot with Delmonico in the middle of the order if you want, but I wouldn’t go too crazy here.

Daniel Murphy at $4,000 is a steal, even against Thor. I’m still considering a Cubs stack with a stout breeze blowing out at Wrigley. At any rate, I will play Murphy for sure. Rizzo and Schwarber look tempting as well.

Bargain Shoppers:

Strasburg gave up five runs to the Phillies last week, so there is no way that I’m paying his price. However, the Phillies that hit Strasburg hard are cheap. Asdrubal Cabrera and Maikel Franco have both homered twice off of Strasburg.

Austin Romine has the homer against Carlos Rodon, but if I take a shot at him, it will be with either Stanton or Andujar. Right handed power has the best chance at Rodon tonight.

The only Giant I would even remotely consider here is Hunter Pence. Pence is 15-41(.366) with four homers and 11 RBI against Patrick Corbin already.
