Dallas Stars

The window to win a Stanley Cup is open, for now.

Dallas has some breathing room to realize and reflect on the fact that the Stars are capable of potentially reaching the Stanley Cup Final as early as 2019, but the Stars also need to make sacrifices in relation to the team’s roster.

Yes, Dallas has some star-power that’s necessary to at least reach the Final, with the likes of forwards Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn; but acquiring a skater such as Erik Karlsson would insistently uplift the Stars a Stanley Cup favorite.

Still, at the time of writing, Karlsson is on Ottawa’s roster and the Stars are just another good team in overly competitive Western Conference and Central Division.

Some other big question marks that concern Dallas is offensive production skaters other than Seguin, Benn, Alexander Radulov and John defenseman Klingberg. After Klingberg’s 67 points, Mattias Janmark was fifth on the team in scoring with 34 points (19 goals, 15 assists). The chances are that the Stars’ depth players are going to have to produce more often.

Newly acquired goaltender Ben Bishop appeared average more times than not last season, but Dallas fanbase should give the soon to be 33-year-old the benefit of the doubt. Fans can expect Bishop to regain form in his second year with the team, and perform as the goaltender that he was sought out to be for the Stars.

If Dallas is going to win its second Stanley Cup in franchise history, then expect the Stars to re-sign Tyler Seguin (2019 unrestricted free agent) and win the Cup in 2020.
