Usain Bolt – Manchester United

When it comes to world class sprinters, you’d be hard pressed to find a more decorated one than Usain Bolt. The Jamaican international is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist, 11-time World Champion and a world record holder in three different disciplines. Along with American swimmer Michael Phelps, Bolt is one of the most accomplished Olympians in recent history, and his accomplishments rival those of some of history’s greatest Olympians and athletes overall.

He’s also a massive Manchester United fan.

Bolt was a special guest of United at the 2011 Champions League final, when the Red Devils took on Barcelona at London’s Wembley Stadium. At that event, Bolt expressed a desire to play for Manchester United when his sprinting career was over.

He’s taken his soccer career fairly seriously after his retirement, going through a trial with Borussia Dortmund and recently signing with Australian club Central Coast Mariners. Bolt’s technique would need to improve if he has any hopes of one day donning the famous red shirt at Old Trafford, but his speed is an attribute that can’t be taught.

He’s also offered his opinion of matters related to United on several different occasions. From calling into United’s post game radio show following a thrilling New Years’ Eve win over Middlesbrough in 2016 to calling manager Jose Mourinho’s style of soccer “boring,” Bolt hasn’t shied away from making his feelings clear about the club he supports. With enough time and practice, he may very well have a say in how some of those games are decided on the pitch.
