Following an injury to Antonio Carlos Junior, his bout with Elias Theodorou has been moved to UFC 231 in Toronto on Dec. 8.
There have been many alterations to the upcoming UFC São Paulo card in the past few weeks. Most recently the middleweight bout between Elias Theodorou and Antonio Carlos Junior was in danger. Carlos Junior suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw from the card. Instead of scrapping the fight altogether, the two fighters were able to negotiate and come up with a better option, moving the fight to Toronto in December.
“Shoe face” reached out to Theodorou on Twitter politely and apologized for the cancellation and asked to reschedule. His request was granted.

“Fight rebooked to UFC 231. Seems my opponent, unfortunately, got hit by the injury bug and needs more time for battle,” Theodorou wrote on Instagram. “Boo! Definitely works for me in the long run, as the stage is now set at home.”
There was little drama in the rescheduling of this fight, but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t some drama with potential replacements. Following UFC Lincoln this past weekend Theodorou was called out by Eryk Anders for a future date. When Theodorou became available Anders was nowhere to be seen. This fact was pointed out by Theodorou himself.

Regardless of call outs or lack of opponents, Theodorou, an Ontario native, now has the chance to fight in his home country for the first time since February of 2017. The former Ultimate Fighter: Nations middleweight winner is currently ranked number 14 in the official UFC rankings and is on a two-fight win streak.
Carlos Junior is sitting in the number 11 spot in the UFC rankings and is on a five-fight win streak. His most recent win came over Tim Boetsch at UFC on Fox 29 in April.
