29. Will Clyburn, SF, CSKA Moscow

Nationality/College: American (Iowa State)

2017-18 stats: 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists per game (CSKA Moscow)

Career synopsis: Clyburn took the scenic route to Moscow. In college he played for a junior college, Utah, and Iowa State, and then did a two-year stint at ratiopharm Ulm to kick off his European career. After a one-year pause at Hapoel Holon in Israel, he found his way to Euroleague, where he spent 2017 with Darussafaka in Turkey and last year with CSKA Moscow.

Representative Highlight Play:

What’s his skill set?: Clyburn works as a secondary creator thanks to his handle and athleticism. He’s a strong dunker and can create his own shot consistently at the rim, and he’s slowly become an effective spot-up shooter as well. He isn’t always consistent on defense, but he’s a capable three-position defender when engaged.

What makes him special?: CSKA’s offense always works best when they have an athletic gunner that can take the wheel when things bog down for the bench units. Since Sonny Weems left town, that’s fallen to Clyburn, who surprised with his buy-in to CSKA’s ball movement and structure. He fills a solid role for Euroleague’s most exciting regular season team, and he is good for a few takeovers throughout the season. If he becomes more comfortable in Year 2, he could star for this team.
