Prediction

While Las Vegas seems like this game could have high scoring potential, it seems like a longshot. Virginia Tech and Florida State boast two of the nations toughest defenses and questions on offense. Francois and Jackson both return under different circumstances. Francois’ health will be a concern and the Seminoles will need him to return to form quickly. Meanwhile, Jackson will give the Hokies the dual-threat quarterback they always have and try to continue his impressive growth as a passer.

Special teams, a staple to winning games at Virginia Tech seemingly forever, could be negated by the stellar unit on the opposite side. Kicker Ricky Aguayo is one of the nation’s best for Florida State and keeps the team in scoring position even with short drives. A big play by the Hokies could swing the game.

This game could get ugly, and turn some people off after a long Monday in the sun ending Labor Day Weekend. It seems like the type of game that will come down to the quarterbacks and team that makes the least amount of mistakes. That puts the Hokies with a mental advantage. That being said, the talent on Florida State and rejuvenated spirits at home will prove too much for the strong Virginia Tech squad.

Prediction: Florida State 27, Virginia Tech 24
