AC Milan face Roma at San Siro Stadium on Friday, Aug. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

There was no closer top four than Serie A last season. The title race went down to the final weeks of the season and the final Champions League spot was decided on the final day of the season. This season, Serie A should be even closer as AC Milan appears to be closing the gap on the five teams that finished above them last season. Milan host Roma at the San Siro on Friday in one of the best games in Europe this season.

Milan should have come away with points in their season debut against Napoli. Gennaro Gattuso’s side went up 2-0 early in the second half but could not hold onto the win. Milan struggled to play the ball out from the back, repeatedly losing the ball to Napoli. Franck Kessie and Tiemoue Bakayoko both struggled, at times looking lost on the field and unable to play together. Milan and Gattuso will look to solve their problems against Roma.

Roma were one of three Serie A teams to come back from down two goals last weekend. At halftime, Roma trailed Atalanta 3-1 but were able to fight back and steal a point with two late goals.

Like Milan, Roma’s problem is their midfield. Daniele De Rossi is a club legend but he has lost more than one step. The Roma captain struggles to win the ball back like he once did and now allows opposing players to run too freely towards goal. Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini also struggled to play together on Monday. After selling Radja Nainggolan and Kevin Strootman, Eusebio Di Francesco is still figuring out how to best lineup his side. However, after Monday’s game, it should be obvious to the manager that Steven Nzonzi needs to start. Roma played much better after Nzonzi came on after halftime.
