New York Knicks — Spike Lee

Spike Lee probably takes the cake when it comes to celebrity NBA fandom. From taunting Reggie Miller in the 90s to current day, Lee is always on the sidelines sporting that orange and blue.

Lee has had his run-ins with players over the past few decades, so let us take some time to look through those.

Starting off with the classics. It’s impossible to remember the Knicks-Pacers series without remembering Miller and Lee going at it.

Miller and Lee going at it inspired ESPN to make a 30 for 30 episode titled “Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. the New York Knicks.”

Lee had run-ins with Michael Jordan, too.

While in Chicago, Jordan hit a dagger three to extend the Bulls’ lead over the Knicks. With Lee on the sidelines, Jordan wanted to give him the proper send off.

In more recent years, with the Knicks missing the playoffs most years, Lee has still been there — but has been vocal about his team’s shortcomings.

In early 2017, when former Knick Charles Oakley was kicked out of and banned from Madison Square Garden, Lee was in tears and questioned Knicks owner James Dolan’s decision. Lee also questioned Dolan calling Oakley an alcoholic, calling the claim “insanity.”

Lee also submitted a resume to be the Knicks lead executive after the departure of Phil Jackson. He didn’t receive an offer.

Lee is a great fan, however, and has always been there — through thick and thin. It’s difficult to imagine a Knicks team that Lee won’t get behind.
