Every NBA team’s most famous fan

Oklahoma City Thunder — Bill Hader
Comedian and actor Bill Hader grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma with no basketball team. Now, the Oklahoma City Thunder reside in his home state and he’s a big fan.
Hader returned to Oklahoma back in 2012 when the Thunder were in the NBA Finals. Interviewed before the game, Hader said he would become the Thunder’s Jack Nicholson.
“I will be your Jack Nicholson,” Hader said. “I just need to figure out a way to get here from New York. If I can figure out a perfect flight that makes sense and I could do it on my off-weeks from SNL, I’m 100 percent into being Jack Nicholson.”
In an interview with Bill Simmons at those same Finals, Hader dished on the Thunder fans. With the Thunder being the only professional sports team in Oklahoma, Hader talked about the fans putting all their energy into the state’s one team.
“It’s like a college game. When you show up, it’s like being at a college game. People all wearing the same stuff, going nuts.”
Fandom can sometimes be influenced by substances, as Hader showed in the past. The proof seems to have been deleted from the internet, but Hader apparently told Jimmy Kimmel back in 2015 that while high on Prednisone, he bought Thunder season tickets. And, for whatever reason, Seattle Sonics memorabilia.
Since those interviews from the 2012 Finals, Hader has gotten busier. He still seems to undoubtedly be a Thunder fan, but he has fallen well short of becoming the team’s Jack Nicholson. Maybe when/if Hader slows down in making shows and movies, he will be courtside at Chesapeake Energy Arena much more often.
