Portland Trail Blazers — Elizabeth Banks

Before talking about Elizabeth Banks and her fandom of the Portland Trail Blazers, we must talk about her husband — Max Handelman. Handelman is a diehard Blazers fan that used to write for a blog called “Beyond Bowie.”

Banks and Handelman dated in college and married in 2003. They have been together long enough for Banks to pick up some of her husband’s Blazers fandom.

In 2011, Banks admitted that she wasn’t a huge NBA fan like her spouse but did love Allen Iverson back in his day. She also said she could listen to Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith all day.

Like Banks said, she isn’t a huge fan, but she has made time for Blazers games over the years — whether it be in Portland, New York, or elsewhere.

It is a little disappointing that the Blazers don’t have many more notable celebrity fans. Portland is a nice city and the Blazers have had successful teams over the years. With a roster headline by Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, there is a lot of fun to be had on the sidelines of the Moda Center.

There aren’t too many celebrities from Portland, though, and definitely not any bigger than Banks. So maybe I’m just grasping for straws here.

Still, it would be nice for some big celeb to pick up a Blazers fandom. After all, every team deserves someone famous on the sidelines as much as possible. That’s what’s going to keep the players motivated!
