The Stanford Cardinal will kick off their season against the San Diego State Aztecs on Friday night.

The Stanford Cardinal have been the consistent giant in the Pac-12 for some time now under David Shaw. Their model of consistency has consistently kept them in the conversation for conference championships over the last decade and they would love to make a run at another one in 2018.

On Friday night, the Cardinal will begin their season at home against the San Diego State Aztecs. Their Mountain West foe has often been a thorn in the side for many Pac-12 competitors in the past and this will be a good test for Shaw’s group in the first week of the season.

When it comes to the Cardinal, everything on offense starts with running back Bryce Love. He’s a back that can break off a 300-yard game out of nowhere and do amazing things when he gets the ball in his hands.

He’s going to look to make a serious run at the Heisman Trophy and several other awards this season. Love is the focal point of an offense that is going to need him to put them on his back as they chase the Washington Huskies in the Pac-12 North.

K.J. Costello returns at quarterback for the Cardinal and the offense really began to excel under him when he took command of the position last season. With a steady hand at quarterback and perhaps the best running back in the nation, the Cardinal are primed to have yet another successful season in 2018. Friday night’s contest against the Aztecs, who boasted an impressive defense in 2017, will provide a great first look.
