3. New Orleans Saints

The old New Orleans Saints offense died last year as Sean Payton switched from more vertical pass sets to a game predicated on efficiency and finding easy production. And with the playmakers on this team, it’s likely the Saints are even better this year as they loaded up with receivers. The additions of Cameron Meredith and Tre’Quan Smith are meaningful as the team desperately needed another big body behind Michael Thomas.

Thomas is a legitimate superstar, elite receiver capable of winning on any route. Meredith was under-the-radar in Chicago but has looked 100 percent healthy this preseason, and that’s going to pay off against the better defenses who can combat mismatches.

The offensive line has been built as a top unit after recent investments in the last few years. The versatile group can play gap or zone schemes, and is a stout group of pass blockers to keep Drew Brees upright.

The backfield is really special, though. Alvin Kamara’s breakout 1,554 yards as a rookie was just the tip of the iceberg of his talent, and getting Mark Ingram back in Week 5 will keep him fresh.
