The Chicago Bears are getting more than just Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders.

The big news circulating around the NFL world on Saturday morning was that the Oakland Raiders were trading superstar defensive end Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears.

We initially believed that the trade was simply Mack to Chicago in exchange for two first round draft picks. But more details have since been released about the trade, and it turns out the Bears are getting plenty more than just Mack.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, the Bears are receiving Mack as well as a 2020 second round pick and 2020 fifth round pick. Meanwhile, the Raiders are getting Chicago’s first round picks in both 2019 and 2020, as expected, plus a pair of middle-to-late round picks in each year’s draft.

So, to sum up this trade, which has finally become official, the Bears are getting one of the best defensive players in the league as well as a future second round pick. Meanwhile, the Raiders are getting nothing in return but draft picks. They can potentially do something great with those first rounders, but that all depends on draft positioning, which can be really unpredictable.

If it wasn’t obvious by the point, the Bears are the clear winners of this trade, and it’s a very questionable move by Jon Gruden, the man who is now running the Raiders.

Mack was the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and has since been named to three Pro Bowls. He’s also a two-time First Team All-Pro, as well as the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. If you’re a quarterback, Mack is not somebody you want to see staring back at you on the field, because he has a tendency to eat quarterbacks alive — something that Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, coming back from a broken collarbone, now gets to look forward to twice a year.

Bears fans can officially celebrate their team pulling off the biggest trade of the year, while Raiders fans can officially hang their heads in confusion.
