Navy will travel over 4,850 miles Saturday night to square off against The Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii, while not the most popular game of the weekend, it does offer some watchable upside.
After reeling off five straight wins to begin their 2017 campaign before sinking, the Navy Midshipmen look to have the same hot start heading into the 2018 college football season. Lead by Ken Niumatalolo for the 12th straight year, the Mids will look to set sail in the right direction against Hawaii (1-0) Starting quarterback Malcolm Perry is a jack of all trades on the field.
Last season, as the teams second leading rusher, Perry accomplished an outstanding 1,182 yards on the ground (138 carries) and adding 11 touchdowns. On 164 total touches (rushing and receiving) Perry had 1,814 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Malcolm Perry’s 8.4 yards per touch was not only a Navy Midshipmen record but also good enough for third best in the country in 2017. He started only three games as the starting quarterback but found success while doing so. Carrying the ball 79 times for 646 yards and seven more touchdowns. Navy will be a really exciting team to watch this upcoming season and their first opponent also has a starting quarterback who can do it all.
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, who started their 2017 campaign 2-0, will look to start the same this season. Last Saturday starting quarterback Cole McDonald took control of the game against Colorado State. Proving to the college football world he deserves some attention as well. after throwing for 418 yards and three touchdowns.

More impressively rushing for nearly 100 yards (96) and two more scores. It’s safe to say McDonald will be a very exciting player to watch in 2018. Dawning their new “blackout” jerseys, fans are being encouraged to dawn all black in the stands as well, creating a “blackout” effect for the game. Hawaii will look to impress their home crowd with a big home win against a more formidable foe in the Midshipmen, who boast arguably the best gadget player in college football.
