Real Madrid face Leganes at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, Sept. 1. Here’s all the info you need to watch the match.

It’s derby weekend across Spain this week and Madrid is no different as Real Madrid host Leganes in game week 3. Its a mere 20 minutes drive from the visitor’s home ground to the Santiago Bernabeu in uptown Madrid, a stadium where they have enjoyed mixed fortunes since their promotion in 2016. Los Pepineros are still waiting for their first derby win against Madrid in the league, having lost all four previous matches, however, they produced one of the shocks of last season by beating Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Copa Del Rey, dumping Los Blancos out of the competition. It was a performance that Zidane quoted as one of his most difficult moments as Madrid manager and the squad will be eager to make sure that new manager, Julen Lopetegui, doesn’t have to suffer a similar humiliation.

Madrid fans might see new signing, Mariano, line out for Los Blancos on Saturday after rejoining the club from Lyon for a fee of 22 million euros. The Dominican native played a small role in Real Madrid’s league and Champions League double in 2016-17, scoring five goals in all competitions before join French side Lyon where he scored 18 league goals last season. Thibaut Courtois will also hope to make his Real Madrid debut this weekend though Lopetegui has so far favored Keylor Navas in the league, having started the Costa Rican in the previous two games.

Another possible goalkeeping debutante is Leganes’s loan signing, Andriy Lunin. The Russian was signed by Real Madrid this summer and could possibly make his debut against his parent club, though Los Blancos are known for putting a clause in the contracts of their loan players to prevent them from playing against the Royal Whites.
