2. Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin

There’s a good chance that we’re not talking about the Wisconsin Badgers as much as we should be. While much of the Big Ten showed some cracks in the armor in Week 1 of the season, the Badgers went about their business with relative ease in beating Western Kentucky. And their business early on in the game was letting Jonathan Taylor go to work and do what he’s best at behind their dominant offensive line.

Taylor finished the matchup with 18 carries for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while not seeing the field much at all in relation to the four quarters that were actually played. He was a beast last season and looked to be in form to do just that type of thing once again this year. Once he’s unleashed for 60 minutes, he could do something quite special.

1. Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma

Much like Taylor, Oklahoma Sooners running back Rodney Anderson truly wasn’t asked to do a lot of work in the season-opener. Unlike Taylor, the workload for Anderson didn’t even touch double-digit carries, largely in part to how explosive he was with the touches that he did receive as the Sooners routed the Florida Atlantic Owls, 63-14.

Anderson had only five carries on the day, but still took them for a 100-yard rushing performance and found his way into the end zone twice. Those counting numbers aren’t all that impressive, but he was exceptionally dominant to have received such little work. And as Oklahoma’s schedule starts to toughen up as the year goes on, if Anderson is able to keep producing at high levels, we may have just gotten a taste of what’s to come from him this season.
