DraftKings Main MLB Picks September 3: Don’t fade deGrom
DraftKings chopped up our Labor Day pretty good. The seven early games are good, but the two game afternoon slate left off the Giants and Rockies. so the only way to stack Coors is in the all day tournament. This piece will focus on the five “main” games in the evening.

Texas is the only place where weather is a factor. Thunderstorms are likely until later in the night, and even if they do play this, the wind is blowing in from center at 12 mph. It’s hot and humid in Arlington, so if they get this in, balls will fly.
We will provide you with several options to build your lineup here. Want to spend all your money on pitchers and play bargain bats? We will highlight who is worth the money. Want to punt arms and pay up for the big boppers? We can help you with that as well, and everything in between!
These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. We have plenty of writers on here who give you relevant information no matter which site you play on!

Top Tier:
Jacob deGrom ($13,400): I would start deGrom against any team of any era right now. He has been THAT dominant this year. Of course, it helps that the Dodgers are only hitting .203 off of him with four homers and eight runs in 118 at bats with 28 strikeouts. They can’t touch him either.
Middle Tier:
Zack Godley ($9,700): It’s so hard to trust Godley right now. He has actually been worse on the road, and has allowed nine runs in three starts against San Diego this year. Godley does have 46.2 DraftKings points in three starts against the Padres this year. However, in San Diego just 16 days ago, Godley only scrounged up 6.1 DraftKings points. There is a huge risk here. I would seriously consider moving way up to deGrom or dropping to Wood.
Alex Wood ($9,200): The Mets are hitting just .190 with two homers and six runs in 63 at bats with 17 strikeouts against Wood. This promises to be a pitcher’s duel tonight. Wood has a 2.46 ERA over his last ten starts, and is rounding into his dominant form at just the right time for the Dodgers. It is entirely possible that neither starter gets a decision and both go deep into the same, so I’m not against using both of them in the same lineup with an Angels stack.
Bargain Pitchers:
Erasmo Ramirez ($6,200): Ramirez has held the Orioles to a .219 average in 73 at bats with just two homers, four runs, and a whopping 20 strikeouts. Ramirez got throttled by the Padres in his last outing, which should keep ownership down. I hope it does, because I’m riding Ramirez as my bargain pitcher. That strikeout upside alone against Baltimore makes it worth the risk.
Yonny Chirinos ($5,600): Chirinos looks to be the long man out of the bullpen for the Rays tonight. He has pitched better in this role, but has still been prone to the occasional blow up. I don’t think that happens here. The Blue Jays offense isn’t all that great. I expect a solid outing from Chirinos. It wont be anything special, but it will be a serviceable number for the price.
Texas Rangers vs. Matt Shoemaker:
Shoemaker has only made one start this year due to forearm issues. If that isn’t bad enough, he has to face the Rangers on a hot and humid night in Arlington. Maybe. There is a severe risk of rainout and delays. However, it doesn’t matter who the Angels throw out there. A Texas stack is very intriguing. Joey Gallo, Rougned Odor, and Jurickson Profar are very high on my list. Elvis Andrus and Choo aren’t far behind. Any starter is in play here. We saw the Rangers put up 18 yesterday. They could hit double digits again tonight.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Jeffrey Springs/Ariel Jurado:
The Rangers are the next in line to try out the opener. Jurado has been awful as a starter, so they are going to let him come in after most of the dangerous hitters are either out or on base. Trout is an obvious play here, but after that, you have to do some digging. The Angels don’t have much left. However, that provides a ton of potential value. Kole Calhoun‘s first at bat will be against a lefty, but the rest wont be. I like Andrelton Simmons here. Jose Fernandez, David Fletcher, and whoever catches are on my radar as well because they should get first crack at Jurado.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Bryan Mitchell:
The Diamondbacks continue to rake on the road, particularly Paul Goldschmidt. David Peralta, A.J. Pollock, Steven Souza, and Ketel Marte will fill out my stack. If you want to make a case for anyone else, I’m listening. I don’t think there is a bad Arizona pick out there.
Top Tier:
If Nelson Cruz is in the lineup, I want him at home against a rookie lefty. Jean Segura is wortha look as well. If you want to do a little deeper down the Seattle rabbit hole, I don’t blame you. Down there you will find Ryon Healy, Mitch Haniger, and Mike Zunino, who all hit lefties hard.

Middle Tier:
Wil Myers has a homer and five RBI off of Zack Godley. Renfroe has had a big homestand so far, and he is 5-14 with a couple of doubles off of Godley so far.
The Rays have really hit Sam Gaviglio well, but they haven’t faced him at home. Yes, that can make all the difference. I may throw Willy Adames at him, but not much else. NOTE: Marcus Stroman MAY make this start, but nothing is official yet. If Stroman does start, I’m after Jake Bauers, Brandon Lowe, and maybe even a full stack. No part of me trust Stroman right now.
Bargain Shoppers:
I kind of want to throw a couple of Blue Jays at the Rays and see what sticks. The price on Lourdes Gurriel makes him really tempting. Billy McKinney looks like a great option as well.
Devin Mesoraco and Wilmer Flores have both homered against Alex Wood in the past. I don’t know that I would trust either of them tonight though.
If you want to go after Erasmo, it has to be with Chris Davis. He is the only one that has hit him well so far.
If you’re feeling froggy, Chris Taylor is 3-4 wtih a homer and three RBI against Jacob deGrom. Puig has homered off of deGrom twice, but is just 3-16 overall.
