The Purge series premiere live stream: Watch online
By Nir Regev
Here’s how you can watch The Purge series premiere on USA Network online via live stream or the old-fashioned way right on your television.
The Purge airs its series premiere episode “What Is America?” tonight on the USA Network at 10 p.m. ET. You can catch a live stream over at USA Network’s live stream or with a seven-day free trial at FuboTV.
Variety recently interview showrunner Thomas Kelly about the new TV adaption of The Purge and he referenced the show’s villain as the actual Purge itself:
"We all love to write villains, it’s fun, but for us The Purge is the villain, so we really wanted to come up with characters who, despite living in the new normal of The Purge, have chosen not to."
The Purge has had four films since the original’s release in 2013, with the most recent, The First Purge seeing release in July 2018. The TV adaption was first announced back in April 2017, and written by the series’ creator James DeMonaco. There’s ten episodes slated for the show’s first season. A Blumhouse production, the studio hopes to find the same kind of success it did on the big screen with The Purge.
In an interview with Film Maker Magazine, back in July, creator James DeMonaco spoke about why he choose not to direct the latest Purge film:
"When you both write and direct something, it’s a couple years off your life. I wasn’t ready to spend two more years on another Purge. I was excited to write it, but I think it was time."
“What Is America?” Episode Description:
"Once a year, any and all crime — including murder — is legal in America for a period of 12 hours."
The preview trailer looks to keep the same Purge atmosphere as the film iterations, with the film franchise’s staple quote, “On Purge night, you are free to do whatever you want.”
