2019 NFL Mock Draft: Bills land Nick Bosa at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Washington Redskins struggled for years to make a decision on Kirk Cousins, who was nothing but productive for them at quarterback. During the offseason, they did make a decision on a quarterback, but it was Alex Smith who will be the solution for them, at least for the next few seasons.
Smith is coming off back-to-back AFC West titles with the Kansas City Chiefs, who decided it was time for them to move to Patrick Mahomes II as their new starter. In Washington, Smith will have the chance to get the Redskins back to the top of the NFC East, which they last won back in 2015.
In Kansas City, Smith had a ton of weapons on the outside, and in Washington, he does have a few guys who can get it done. Jamison Crowder, Josh Doctson, and Paul Richardson are nice players, but drafting someone of A.J. Brown’s caliber in the first round in April would be the way to go.
Brown is an electric wideout from Ole Miss, and has the talent to beat defenders deep with his speed. Last year, the Redskins spent six draft picks on the defensive side of the ball, so going offense makes sense in 2019, especially with Smith in the fold at quarterback.
