FanDuel NFL: Best lineup for Week 1
By Jon Dove
Wide Receiver: Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints
vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1:00 pm Sunday
FanDuel Cost: $8,500
Michael Thomas and Drew Brees are back again looking to dominant the NFC South. Thomas is Brees’ unquestioned go-to receiver and an overall offensive weapon. His ability to produce in the red zone is what helps increase his fantasy value.
The Buccaneers did a lot of work this offseason to improve their defense. However, they only added two rookies to the secondary.
Thomas will work against either veteran Brent Grimes or Vernon Hargreaves. Neither has the skills needed to handle him one on one. Brees will look to feed Thomas the ball and take advantage of his mismatch.
Wide Receiver: Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns
vs. Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00 pm Sunday
FanDuel Cost: $6,600
Landry is going to see plenty of targets from Tyrod Taylor. He remains one of the better route runners and slot receivers in the league. However, the Browns are looking to expand this role and get him more work on the outside.
Wide Receiver: Chris Hogan, New England Patriots
vs. Houston Texans 1:00 pm Sunday
FanDuel Cost: $6,700
It’s going to be interesting to see how Tom Brady adjusts to the loss of several of his pass catchers. The one holdover at the wide receiver position is Chris Hogan. He’s the defacto No. 1 receiving option outside of Rob Gronkowski.
The Patriots also like to get the running backs involved in the passing game, but that shouldn’t take work away from Hogan.
New England’s matchup against the Houston Texans should tilt the gameplan towards attacking through the air. The Texans have a strong defensive front which could make it difficult to establish a run game.
