Florida Panthers

No, the Florida Panthers haven’t won a Stanley Cup, nor have the Cats reached another Stanley Cup Final since the team first went to the fourth round back in 1996. However, that could all change soon with a refreshed Florida team that entails a commendable mix of veteran and youthful assets.

There area handful of top tier skaters on the Panthers’ roster that haven’t won a Stanley Cup entering 2019, but there’s one of the best goaltenders to ever strap on the pads that’s ringless and unfortunately made this list.

Roberto Luongo goes down as the Florida Panthers’ best player that stills searching for a Stanley Cup ring. Luongo, 39, will surpass Ed Belfour this season for third all-time in wins (484) by an NHL goaltender. His 471 career victories are the most by any active goaltender, but after 17 years in the NHL he still hasn’t won a Cup.

Luongo was originally drafted by the New York Islanders at the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, but was traded to the Florida Panthers during the 2000 offseason. The Canadian Gold Medal winner has spent most of his career with the Panthers (two stints) and the Vancouver Canucks.

It was with Vancouver (2006-2014) where the Montreal, Quebec native had his closest opportunity to win a Stanley Cup. The Canucks were up 3-2 in the 2011 Stanely Cup Final against the Boston Bruins, but Boston managed to make a historic comeback and win the Cup.

Since that time, Luongo has only made three appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and two of which were with Vancouver.
