Minnesota Wild

The State of Hockey has never witnessed either one of its NHL teams in the Minnesota North Stars (1967-1993) or Minnesota Wild win a Stanley Cup. One of Minnesota’s own, and brightest NHL stars, in Zach Parise has never won a Stanley Cup, either.

The Minneapolis native signed with his hometown Wild during the 2012 offseason, along with defenseman Ryan Suter. The thought was that both Parise and Suter would have already brought the Stanley Cup back home to the State of Hockey, but that hasn’t been the case. In fact, the Wild haven’t even advanced past the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs since that time.

Parise, 34, has unfortunately been snake bitten by injuries since joining the Wild and has never played in 80 or more games with the team. The former first-round draft pick (2003) was labeled one of, it not, the best American born skater of his generation, but that has tailed off due to his ongoing injuries.

While Parise still hasn’t won a Stanley Cup, he’s no stranger to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The left-handed shot has appeared in 11 different postseason, and in 2012 helped the New Jersey Devils reach the Stanley Cup Final against the eventual champion Los Angeles Kings.

In 872 career games, No. 11 has found the back of the net 333 times and tallied 352 assists for 685 points and counting.

Parise has netted 35 career goals and 39 assists in the playoffs, and 13 of his goals came on the man advantage. While Parise has never won any major hardware at the NHL level, it would be hard to imagine that he won’t win a Stanley Cup one day.
