Carolina Hurricanes
It’s been a tough transition for the Carolina Hurricanes over the past decade, and there’s one skater on the Hurricanes’ roster that goes down as their best player that still hasn’t won a Stanley Cup.
While it might seem like defenseman Justin Faulk has been playing with Carolina since the ‘Canes last went to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006, the former second-round draft pick (2010) has been on the team since 2011-12.
Since that time, Faulk has been one of the better offensive-defenseman in the league and has been a top point-producer for Carolina. Falk recorded career-highs for goals in a season when the right-handed shooter recorded 15 or more goals from 2015 until 2017, and his career-high for points in a season came in 2015 (15G-34A –49PTS).
Over the past two seasons, Faulk has been involved in the trade rumor mill, especially since he’s supposed to be in his prime and has yet to make a single appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 26-year-old has also received some major spotlight while dressing for the United States’ Olympic team in 2013-14.
No, Faulk doesn’t have much competition for this list in particular, but other skaters such as forwards Justin Williams and Jordan Staal have both won Stanley Cups with other clubs.
The veteran blue liner has two more seasons left on his contract before he’s an unrestricted free agent, and it’s possible Faulk will have to win his first Stanley Cup with a team other than the Hurricanes.
