Oddsmakers make the Cardinals slight favorites, with the home team tipped at -1. Oddsshark expects the Cards to win by almost nine points, with the over/under set at 44.

Arizona is fancied, but Washington can take confidence from an 8-2 winning record in recent matchups in this series. Even so, the Redskins may struggle to overcome a Cards defense stingy on home soil.

Oddsshark’s Jared Hochman noted how “Arizona is 5-2 SU in its last seven home games, while the UNDER has hit in 14 of its last 20 home contests.”

He also pointed out how the “Cardinals have only allowed four 300-yard passing games at home in the past three seasons.”

Hochman believes a new-look Washington offense getting up to speed with Smith against an unforgiving defense makes the “UNDER on a total of 44.0 a very real possibility.”

Arizona’s defense has the talent to smother Smith and Co, particularly up front. Edge-rusher Chandler Jones, linebackers Deone Bucannon and Josh Bynes and elite cover man Patrick Peterson won’t yield yards easily.

Still, it wouldn’t be wise to bet heavily against a Redskins O’ anchored by a powerful line led by left tackle Trent Williams and right guard Brandon Scherff. Meanwhile, wideouts Paul Richardson and Jamison Crowder can both produce big plays.

This is one game too close to call to rely on the trends.
