Tim Tebow suggests Alabama’s Jalen Hurts should transfer to rival Auburn

This would be one way to make Jalen Hurts the most wanted man in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama Crimson Tide came into the 2018 season with a quarterback controversy, but after just one game, it might have already been settled.

Alabama, ranked No. 1 in the nation, steamrolled over Louisville 51-14 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida last Saturday, and Tua Tagovailoa made a pretty good case for himself to be the Crimson Tide’s No. 1 quarterback. He completed 12-of-6 passes for 227 yards, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for a third.

That’s about as good of a performance you can give at the quarterback position, and it may have answered any questions that head coach Nick Saban had about the situation.

But then the question remains if Saban sticks with Tagovailoa 0for the rest of the season, what does that mean for Alabama’s other quarterback, Jalen Hurts?

Tim Tebow, a former national champion and Heisman winning quarterback at Florida, offered up a suggestion on The Paul Finebaum Show that would probably cause Alabama fans to disown Hurts once and for all. Tebow suggested Hurts should transfer to Auburn, the Crimson Tide’s most hated rival.

"“I think there are so many question marks about it.”. “Do you redshirt him? Do you try to keep him around? Is he going to redshirt and then go to another school next year? Does he go to a program that fits him? God forbid, for Alabama fans, does he go to Auburn next year? Stidham leaves and he goes in. He’s a perfect fit for Gus Malzahn’s system, right? So it depends on what his relationship is like with Saban. You can see that Saban cares about this kid. That’s something I’ve appreciated. He’s gone out of his way to lift him up, not bash him, and give him a chance. I think that will go a long way for Jalen as well.”"

Transferring to Auburn? That’s definitely an interesting idea by Tebow.

It would be a surprise to see Hurts actually make that move, but if it did happen, it would be a pretty savage move to make. It would be similar to Johnny Damon leaving the Red Sox to join the Yankees, or Ray Allen leaving the Celtics to join LeBron James in Miami.

But at the same time, it would also be a different scenario, because the only reason Hurts would be leaving Alabama was because he wasn’t getting to play. A reasonable fan couldn’t blame him for wanting a chance to be a starter, and if Auburn happened to be the place where that could happen, then that’s just the way it would have to be.

But good luck convincing any Alabama fans of that. To them, playing for Auburn would be like playing for Satan’s team, and they wouldn’t give a hoot what his reasoning was.
