The No. 7 Auburn Tigers will host the Alabama State Hornets on Saturday night. Here is the game preview, odds, tv channel, live stream and game prediction.

Though nowhere near as exciting as Labor Day Weekend was in the college football landscape, the No. 7 Auburn Tigers (1-0) will be back in action in Week 2. They will be hosting the Alabama State Hornets out of the FCS level.

Kickoff from Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama will be at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sep. 8. The SEC Network will have the telecast. You can find the available live stream for this clash between Alabama state schools on WatchESPN.

Auburn enters play at 1-0 on the season. The Tigers are the No. 7 team in the nation. They are fresh off a close, but strong win over the Washington Huskies of the Pac-12. Auburn held off the then No. 6 Huskies 21-16 in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium down in Atlanta last week. This narrow, but impressive victory allowed Auburn to move up two spots from No. 9 to No. 7 this week in the AP Top 25 Poll.

Alabama State also enters play at 1-0 on the season. The Hornets needed overtime to beat the Tuskegee Golden Tigers 26-20 in Week 1 over in Montgomery. Though the Hornets beat their Week 1 opponent by a slightly wider margin than did Auburn, we all know who is expected to win this ball game down on The Plains.

Anything but a convincing blowout of Alabama State would be bad news for Auburn. Yes, the Tigers did beat arguably the best team in the Pac-12 on a neutral site last week in Washington. However, it was essentially a home game for the Tigers, as Atlanta has a massive Auburn fan base built in.

Look for Auburn to score early and often in this game. Auburn will likely want to put up more than twice what they put down on Washington last week in Atlanta. Auburn will need to treat this game as a tune-up for the Tigers, as they will take on SEC West rival LSU next week over in Baton Rouge.

Could Auburn be overlooking Alabama State a bit? Potentially, but head coach Gus Malzahn won’t be having any of that nonsense. He knows that he has one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Jarrett Stidham, as well as one of the few Power 5 teams that can honestly contend for a trip to the College Football Playoff.

It might take an offensive series or two, but Auburn will eventually put up a number on the scoreboard too massive for Alabama State to overcome. Auburn should have a comfortable halftime lead over Alabama State and should win easily by several touchdowns in Week 2 at home.

Prediction: Auburn 42, Alabama State 16
