The Florida State Seminoles hope they can rebound off a bad loss last week as they welcome the Samford Bulldogs to Tallahassee on Saturday night.

Following all of the turmoil of last season, the hope for the Florida State Seminoles was that they would be able to bounce back in 2018 and ride their talent to a successful season. Unfortunately for them the early returns on those hopes aren’t great. Put simply, the Noles came out last week in a big matchup against Virginia Tech and looked completely out-classed by their opponents.

From Deondre Francois to Cam Akers, everyone on the Florida State offense looked absolutely and completely out of sorts. Many were already calling for head coach Willie Taggart to be on the hot seat and it’s not hard to see why. His offense simply looked like it had no business ever being put on the page, much less being instituted on the field.

Now the Seminoles will welcome the Samford Bulldogs to Doak Campbell on Saturday evening of week 2 in college football. The Bulldogs aren’t near the caliber of FSU, but they are a solid team that should allow Taggart’s group to go out there and try to find some sort of groove.

Samford actually opened up with a cupcake of their own last week, dismantling the Shorter Hawks, 66-9. Suffice it to say that quarterback Devlin Hodges won’t have quite as easy of a team against Florida State this week than he did last outing as he amassed six touchdowns, five through the air and one on the ground.

Samford likely won’t provide much insight or testing for Florida State on Saturday night. The hope for the Seminoles, however, is that it provides them some more time to work things out and get settled. That wasn’t the case for them in the big loss last week, and they need to right the ship before it’s another lost season.
