The No. 11 LSU Tigers will host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Saturday night. Here is the game preview, odds, tv channel, live stream and prediction.

College football is back. In case you did something besides watch college football on Labor Day Weekend, you might have missed the LSU Tigers’ upset victory of the Miami Hurricanes at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday.

LSU went from an overlooked No. 25 ranked team all the way up to No. 11 this week after routing Mark Richt’s Hurricanes to the tune of 33-17. Of course, the Bayou Bengals will be welcomed most ceremoniously by the LSU faithful when the open at home on Saturday night.

LSU will host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions for a 7:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. CT kickoff at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, Sep. 8. ESPN2 will have the national telecast of this football game. The available live stream can be found on WatchESPN.

LSU should feel pretty good about itself after handling Miami down in Jerryworld, but has a huge SEC opener against the rival Auburn Tigers next week on the road. However, they still need to play an in-state team in the form of Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night.

We’ve known that LSU has been a pro football factory on the defensive side of the ball for some time. Guys like Greedy Williams will be future stars in the NFL. Head coach Ed Orgeron seems to have made a fantastic hire in prying former Wisconsin Badgers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to the same role just a year ago.

But it has not been the defense that has brought LSU back to the middle of the pack in the SEC. It’s been bad quarterback play. They haven’t had great play at the position since JaMarcus Russell starred for the Tigers over a decade ago. However, we have reason to believe that Ohio State graduate transfer Joe Burrow could be something special for the LSU passing.

LSU has had some success in that “college football free agent market” in recent years. Zach Mettenberger and Danny Etling made some plays for LSU under center after transferring from Georgia and Purdue, respectively. Could Burrow be that and then some for the Bayou Bengals? That’s what Orgeron and company are hoping for.

Overall, LSU should win this game over Southeastern Louisiana easily. However, it might be closer than you expect, as LSU could be overlooking the Lions in favor of Auburn next week. It could be a two-score game heading into halftime, but the better team from the Pelican State will prevail at home on Saturday night.

Prediction: LSU 35, Southeastern Louisiana 18
