The No. 9 Washington Huskies will host the North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Saturday. Here is the game preview, odds, tv channel, live stream and prediction.
After a tough loss on the opposite side of the country, the No. 9 Washington Huskies (0-1) will look to bounce back against an FCS opponent in the form of the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (1-0) in Week 2.
Kickoff from Husky Stadium in Seattle will be at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sep. 8. The Pac-12 Network will be carrying this football game. You can find the available live streams for this one on either Pac-12.com or on fuboTV.
Washington suffered a neutral-site loss in its season opener against the then No. 9 Auburn Tigers. This was the 2018 Chick-Fil-A Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Auburn narrowly defeated Washington 21-16 in the high-profile Labor Day Weekend game. The Tigers were able to move up two spots in the latest AP Poll to No. 7, while the Huskies only fell three spots to No. 9 from No. 6 entering Week 2.
North Dakota handled the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils back on Aug. 30, 35-7. This easy victory for the Fighting Hawks took place home at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. While North Dakota should feel good about that convincing Week 1 win, another victory isn’t coming in Week 2 versus a Power 5 behemoth the like of Washington.

Of all the ranked teams that lost on Labor Day Weekend, we have to feel the most confident about Washington moving forward. Sure, the Huskies had a hard time containing the Auburn defensive line, but then again, so do most teams in the Power 5. If the Huskies get good games out of quarterback Jake Browning and Myles Gaskin the rest of the way, they should be in good shape to contend for a College Football Playoff spot.
However, Washington’s margin for error is about zero after that opening weekend loss to Auburn in Atlanta. Going a perfect 9-0 in Pac-12 play seems like a very difficult task for the Huskies, as they probably won’t get in with two losses on the resume. While the Pac-12 is certainly capable of sending a team to the playoff, keep in mind that the Pac-12 has been shut out of inclusion twice in four years.
It’s an interesting start time for the Huskies to go at 2:00 p.m. local time in the Pacific Northwest. A noon kickoff might have resulted in a sleepier vibe from the Husky players, but beginning the game two hours later should only help Washington get back on track in the early part o the season.
If North Dakota keeps it interesting, then Washington might be in real trouble. The Huskies still have a full slate of Pac-12 games on the horizon. Teams like Oregon, Stanford and arch rival Washington State are formidable foes within the Pac-12 North division. That being said, Washington should be able to take care of business early and be able to rest starters like Browning and Gaskin early in the second half.
Prediction: Washington 35, North Dakota 14
