The Wisconsin Badgers will host the New Mexico Lobos this weekend at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin (5) is coming off a 34-3 thrashing of Western Kentucky, while New Mexico thrilled in their 62-30 win over Incarnate Word last Saturday.
New Mexico quarterback Tevaka Tuioti started his season off hot and fast, he looks to continue his hot streak Saturday at Wisconsin. His 327 passing yards and four touchdowns, along with his 54 yards and one touchdown on the ground paved the way for the Lobos lopsided win last Saturday.
Running backs Zahneer Shuler and Tyrone Owens combined for 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns, helping their team to the blowout win. Owens having the two scores, while Shuler provided 90 total yards on the ground.
Look for these red-hot playmakers to give Wisconsin’s defense fits this weekend. Starting quarterback Tuioti is one of the best gadget players in college football. His versatility and athleticism poise in the pocket should provide the Lobos with plenty of offense against the No. 5 Badgers Saturday afternoon.
Wisconsin is no pushover though as they claim some of the nation’s top skill position players. Starting quarterback Alex Hornibrook threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Starting running back Jonathan Taylor provided his usual big numbers in the opener, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
Wisconsin will need to stay hot themselves if they want to come away with a win at home Saturday against a team that can make plays and has multiple playmakers who will be hoping to put the Big Ten West front-runners on upset alert in their own place.
Look for this game to be closer than the spread would indicate. The Lobos, though not ranked nationally can make life tricky for the Badgers if they come into this game overlooking their opponent.
