Hot seat watch: Week 2 winners and losers – Larry Fedora is in trouble

Tom Herman: Texas – Winner
It wasn’t an inspiring victory by any means, but the Texas Longhorns held serve against Tulsa at home. The Longhorns won by just one sore, but they needed to get a win on the board or this would have been a disaster for Herman.
After the opening week loss to Maryland, no tune changed on a coach more than it did on Herman. The Texas coach is expected to produce big results this season and losing to Maryland to begin the year did him no favors.
Barely beating Tulsa isn’t going to do him much either but a win is a win. Now, the Longhorns really will get a true test of where they are at as a program. They have upcoming games against USC, TCU and Oklahoma.
If Herman really wants to put his mark on the program, taking two out of three would really help him. He needs to at least win one of those. Otherwise, a 1-4 start to begin the season will have people souring on the program quickly.
When it comes to this week, his team won and that makes him a winner. The Longhorns hope it will carry over when they face J.T. Daniels and the Trojans in Austin. If it’s as exciting as last year’s affair, then it should make for a great game.
