Main’s Mavericks – Week 2 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks

Main’s Mavericks is providing weekly Draftkings NFL GPP contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using all of my picks in Week 2 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that Week 2 DraftKings NFL $1,000,000 lineup.

Mains Mavericks Week 1 Highlights:

Ryan Fitzpatrick 5,000 @ NO (22nd Priced QB) – 45.3 (1st QB)

Chris Godwin 4,100 @ NO (42nd Priced WR) – 13.1 (33rd WR)

Week 1 Low-Salary Superstars We Missed:

James Conner 4,500 – 38.2 (2nd RB)

DeSean Jackson 4,600 – 34.6 (3rd WR)

Randall Cobb 4,700 – 32.2 (5th WR)

Kenny Stills 4,700 – 29.6 (8th WR)

Will Dissly – 22.5 (2nd TE)

Week 2 DraftKings NFL GPP Sleeper Picks

QB:

Ryan Tannehill 5,300 @ NYJ (24th Priced QB in Milly Maker)

Tanny led his team to victory in week 1 putting up 15.6 fantasy points against a tough Tennessee defense. I am a huge proponent of the Adam Gase offense, and I believe he can torch a Jets D on short rest. I am hoping he will have Parker back at wide out, but I still see solid value even if Parker sits.

RB:

Dion Lewis 4,600 vs HOU (25th Priced RB in Milly Maker)

Lewis had 21 touches in the week 1 loss to Miami, garnering 65% of the total backfield touches. He looked better than Derek Henry and finished with 22 points. It is difficult to run up the middle against Houston, so I will be backing Lewis to contribute outside the tackles this week.

Peyton Barber 4,000 vs PHI (49th Priced RB in Milly Maker)

Barber accounted for 83% of the touches in the Tampa Bay backfield. He put up 6.9 points without recording a catch. I find it difficult to believe he will not catch a pass this Sunday. I see huge upside potential from Barber, who is criminally under-priced.

Week 2 DraftKings NFL GPP Sleepers

WR:

Jordy Nelson 5,000 @ DEN (33rd Priced WR in Milly Maker)

Full disclaimer, I am writing this article before the Raiders first game against the Rams. However, I trust the sure-handed Nelson to be involved in the passing attack in Oakland. I am a huge fan of Derek Carr this year, and I think Nelson and Cooper have big years. I will take a discounted Jordy Nelson against an average Denver secondary.

Ryan Grant 4,300 @ WAS (51st Priced WR in Milly Maker)

Grant is clearly Andrew Luck‘s 2nd favorite WR behind TY Hilton. In his first game with Luck, Grant caught 8 of 9 targets and finished with 13.9 DK points. That volume is exactly what you look for. All he needs is to break one of those dump-off passes to make your Milly Maker roster live.

Cortland Sutton 3,500 vs OAK (79th Priced WR in Milly Maker)

Sutton is a boom-or-bust play. I see a week where he goes off for 2 touchdowns on 5 catches. I really like the connection that Keenum has with Sutton. In week 1 Sutton caught 3 passes for 45 yards. For 3,500 I love this as a DFS punt.

TE:

Jonnu Smith 3,100 vs HOU (17th Priced TE in Milly Maker)

A fractured ankle for Delanie Walker means he is out until at least week 12. I am a huge Jonnu Smith supporter and I feel that he should be rostered in any 12-team league. This week, I am cool with rostering Smith whether it is Gabbert or Mariota throwing him the ball (although I would prefer Mariota, a <1% ownership with Gabbert throwing him the ball sounds enticing). Just so you know, Gronk torched this same Houston defense in week 1.
