Loser: Tennessee Titans
The weather wasn’t the only ugly situation in the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins matchup. Tennessee looked completely out of sync on both sides of the ball. The biggest issue was the play of quarterback Marcus Mariota.
He struggled with his accuracy and with the overall flow of the offense. This could be a make or break year for Mariota as he must show development.
The Titans are a team loaded with talent but haven’t been able to take that next step. A lot of that has to do with the play of their quarterback. Mariota obviously has plenty of natural talent, but is struggling with his consistency.
A shorter term concern is his health as Mariota left this game with an elbow injury. His favorite target, Delanie Walker, also suffered what looks like a season-ending injury.
Things didn’t look great on defense either. The Dolphins were able to run all over the field averaging over four yards per carry. Frank Gore had 61 yards on only nine touches. Kenny Stills contributed two touchdowns including one for 75 yards.
Tennessee even struggled on special teams surrendering a 102-yard kickoff return to Jakeem Grant after tying the game in the fourth quarter.
