Cubs fan Stefan Xidas lived his dream and sang at Wrigley Field

Stefan Xidas was raising money for the Special Olympics in order to sing at Wrigley, and on Monday his dream came true.
It’s a tough time to root for the Chicago Cubs, who are battling the Brewers for supremacy in the NL Central. But Monday night proved that there are things bigger than a division race — Stefan Xidas got to live his dream.
You might remember Stefan from a few weeks ago. His story went viral: Stefan, who has Down syndrome, was raising money for the Special Olympics with the hope that he might be able to sing the National Anthem at Wrigley Field. Whether or not he lived that dream didn’t change his goal to raise as much money as possible.
The Cubs noticed, and everything Stefan hoped for came true.
After garnering over $18,000 for the Special Olympics, Stefan sang the National Anthem to all of Wrigleyville. It’s great to see someone that has done so much for the community get rewarded and recognized. The Cubs will donate an additional $18,000 towards Stefan’s goal, bringing his total amount of money raised to well over $40,000.
The club did a great job and this is awesome to see as a fan. This must have been a life changing experience for Stefan and he will never forget this experience for sure. It takes a lot of guts to get up in front of over 30,000 people and perform, but if you have read anything about Stefan or how awesome he is, you shouldn’t be surprised.
The Cubs lost the game, but the night was a win for humanity.
