The Los Angeles Chargers were thought by many to be the crown jewel of the AFC West this season, especially with Alex Smith leaving Kansas City for Washington. The thought wasĀ the Chiefs would struggle at times with second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes II under center, but the youngster proved everybody wrong on Sunday, as he picked apart the Chargers secondary all game long.
The Chargers have issues in their secondary, and a lot of it stems from all the injuries they have incurred over the past few months. Still, they have the best collection of talent on both sides of the ball of any team in the division, but it will be up to them to actually put a consistent season together in 2018.
When it comes to the quarterback spot, the Chargers are set for the season, as Philip Rivers is still a very productive player at the position. However, he is starting to get up there in age, and the time has come for the Chargers to start investing in the player who will eventually take over for him.
In Drew Lock, the Chargers would have Rivers successor, and when it comes to the quarterback class in the 2019 NFL Draft, there are few names that are better. Lock has the talent to be an excellent player at the next level, and with the Chargers, he would have an incredible wealth of weapons to throw to for the next ten years.
