The Washington Redskins pulled off one of the more shocking upsets this past weekend, as they went into Arizona and beat the Cardinals in the desert. The Redskins were unveiling new starting quarterback Alex Smith, who came to the team from Kansas City this past offseason, where he had led the Chiefs to back-to-back AFC West titles.

Smith played very well in his Redskins debut, as did running back Adrian Peterson, who turned back the clock in the team’s winning effort on the road. If Peterson runs the way he did on Sunday, the Redskins could be a sleeper in the NFC, though they have to navigate a very tough schedule in 2018.

If the Redskins can play some consistent football this season, they could be picking this late in round one, and they should look to add talent to the defense with the pick. When it comes to linebackers in this draft class, Devin White from LSU is a guy that many teams will covet, as he has the motor to play sideline to sideline and make big plays.

The Redskins looked very good on Sunday, and with a guy like Smith under center, you know the offense is not going to turn the ball over. The defense did a nice job keeping the Cardinals at bay, but the unit as a whole worries me, which is why they should invest their 2019 first round pick on that side of the ball.
